A storm system sweeping throughout Virginia has delayed the departure of a Carnival Cruise Line ship on Sunday.

Carnival Sunshine’s scheduled departure from Norfolk’s cruise port has been postponed after arriving within the port on Sunday following an 8-day Japanese Caribbean voyage.  The three,000-passenger ship was initially slated to depart on a 6-day Bahamas itinerary on Sunday afternoon.

Carnival Cruise Line has introduced that the departure has been rescheduled for 7:00 a.m. Monday. This adjustment is a direct results of a chilly entrance presently transferring throughout the world, bringing with it adversarial climate circumstances which have already impacted a big portion of the US.

“We’re monitoring a chilly entrance which is impacting the Norfolk space,” acknowledged Caro Ferrer, senior supervisor of communications for Carnival Cruise Line. “The storm is now producing sturdy winds and rain that require us to delay our departure.”

The choice to delay the departure was made to make sure the protection of passengers and crew. Whereas the debarkation of earlier passengers and the boarding of latest passengers proceeded as scheduled on Sunday, the storm pressured the cruise line to alter the departure timing.

Carnival Removes a Port from Sunshine’s Schedule

In line with Carnival, one of many deliberate stops within the Bahamas shall be canceled. Whereas Ferrer confirmed the itinerary alteration, the precise port of name to be eliminated has not but been disclosed formally.

Itineraries for cruise ships are always subject to change as a result of climate or different unexpected circumstances as the protection of passengers comes first.

Carnival Sunshine has solely been crusing out of Norfolk as a homeport since final month.  The ship has lately been repositioned from Charleston, after the cruise line’s contract expired with the South Carolina port.
